ON THE WORKING VISIT BY 
HON. DATOÔÇÖ SERI DR. AHMAD ZAHID HAMIDI
MINISTER OF HOME AFFAIRS
TO SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA

Hon. DatoÔÇÖ Seri Dr. Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, Minister of Home Affairs will be in Australia for a working visit from 10 to 12 June 2015. The main purpose of the visit is to attend the Regional Summit to Counter Violent Extremism: Challenging Terrorist Propaganda which will be held on 11 ÔÇô 12 June 2015 in Sydney.
This Regional Summit is the follow up event to the White House Countering Violent Extremism Summit, which was held in Washington, USA in February 2015. This Summit will bring together key stakeholders from government, civil society and industry across the region with the aim of building capacity to address the threat posed by violent extremist groups. Malaysia is among the 26 countries and international organisations that are invited to participate in the Summit.
While in Sydney, Hon. Minister of Home Affairs is scheduled to meet with Hon. Peter Dutton, Australian Minister for Immigration and Border Control to discuss on the ongoing co-operation with Malaysia on transnational crime issues, including counter-terrorism, and also on the current issue of influx of irregular migrants in the region.
Other meetings arranged for Hon. Minister of Home Affairs are the appointments with the Australian Minister of Justice, Hon. Michael Keenan and the Australian Minister of Social Services, Hon. Scott Morrison. He is also scheduled to attend a Reception Dinner hosted by the Australian Prime Minister, Hon. Tony Abbott at the Kirribilli House, his official Sydney Residence.
