Role

According to the defense based on the concept adopted by the Home Guard forces, which maintain the safety and security until it was taken over by local security forces.

This role will include:

* Security and defense targets in areas important responsibility, if any.
* The transfer and protection of civilian population to safe areas
* Task psychological warfare especially in terms of monitoring the parties which are considered as enemies in a blanket in the area of responsibility.
* Job responsibilities for areas of crime prevention to be taken over by the police.

REAL Energy members can also digembeling for various purposes in accordance with their respective skills. Among the skills the members have been identified: --

* Carpentry and building
* Technician
* Driver (heavy and light)
* Skill use firearms

REAL team members with nearly largely under the age of 40 years is 'ready material' for deployment by the State.

Although the team was established as a REAL security machinery for the purpose of helping to face emergency situations, but during peace, this team has a role that has lead to:

* Field security
* Line of community development (Project REAL BAKTI).
* Tasks in the field of security during the security concept includes the eyes and ears that function as:
* To collect and communicate important information to government agencies such as the Royal Malaysian Police, Customs, UPP, Immigration about any threat to sue the local security.
* To carry out patrols as a crime prevention measures to maintain and preserve the security and peace respectively


When the need arises, to arrest (citizen arrest) to the bad elements to be submitted to the relevant authority.

When permitted by authorities who are eligible to bring weapons including firearms and using them to perform the duties. "Without reducing the powers and duties under any other written law, arrest without warrant a terrorist or someone who is not desired or any person who there is reasonable cause to believe as an undesirable and lead immediately or to terrorist police officer who is a member or security forces. "

RELA role in field of Social Development

Increasing involvement in local community work especially in areas that will produce the effect of high psychological warfare.

Areas selected are:

* Rehabilitation and construction of the houses help the weak goal to reduce poverty the Government.
* Movement to donate blood in large-scale program aimed at helping kesihatan.Membantu agencies providing certain basic amenities (small project) in rural areas.
* Movement to eradicate the enemies of plants in rural areas.
* REAL also have a role in helping to face natural disasters such as floods, fires, storms and others
